A small clinic that does a few things properly

Marlowe Dental opened on Sunfield Road in 2012, in two rooms above a bakery. We have grown to four treatment rooms, a physiotherapy studio and a skin clinic — slowly, and only when we could staff each properly.

Why we started Marlowe

Our lead dentist, Dr Priya Nair, spent her first years of practice in clinics where appointments were twelve minutes long and the next patient was already in the corridor. Most dentistry cannot be done well at that speed, and almost none of it can be explained at that speed. Marlowe was founded on a simple change: longer appointments, fewer of them per day, and treatment plans discussed before they are booked.

In 2018 we added physiotherapy, because so many of our dental patients with jaw pain turned out to need help with their neck and shoulders too. The skin clinic followed in 2021, after patients kept asking Dr Webb — then a visiting doctor — whether he would look at "just one mole" during dental visits. He now has a proper room and a proper list.

We are still independent and still small. The four clinicians on this website are the whole clinical team, which means the person who plans your treatment is the person who carries it out, and the person you speak to when you call is usually the person who will greet you at the door.

How we work, whichever room you are in

  • We explain before we do. You will always know what a treatment involves, what it costs and what the alternatives are — including doing nothing for now — before it is booked.

  • The same clinician throughout. From assessment to aftercare, you see one person who knows your case, not whoever is free.

  • Unhurried by default. Our shortest appointment is twenty minutes. Nervous patients are booked double time at no extra charge.

  • We would rather watch than drill. If a tooth can be safely monitored, we monitor it and tell you what we are watching for.

Come and look around first, if you like

Plenty of our patients started with a visit that involved no treatment at all — a look at the rooms, a chat with the team and a sit in the chair. Call us and ask for a look-around appointment.
