OSCILLA®

ABOUT — THE LAB

A lab that checks
its own work.

Oscilla is an independent research lab in Cambridge and Zürich — the plate behind this page is drawn from those two sites: two sources, one field, the way the lab itself works.

PRINCIPLES — STATED AS AXIOMS

Five axioms, kept on the wall.

AXIOM 01

A claim without a check is a draft.

Nothing the model says is finished until something independent has tested it. Drafts are labelled as drafts — in our papers, in our product, and in every number we publish.

AXIOM 02

The record is part of the result.

An answer you cannot replay is an anecdote. Every run keeps its steps, sources and checks, so a second team can reach the same conclusion — or find the exact step where we part.

AXIOM 03

Slower and proved beats fast and plausible.

We optimise for the cost of a wrong answer, not the cost of a token. Where speed matters more than certainty, we say so and point at the right tool — sometimes it is not ours.

AXIOM 04

The boundary is the product.

Customers trust us with work that cannot leave their building. Deployment inside their boundary — with their keys and their logs — is not an enterprise extra. It is the design.

AXIOM 05

Mark what you cannot prove.

An honest “unproved” is worth more than a confident guess. The model marks its gaps; the lab publishes its failures alongside its measurements, with the same type size.

THE TEAM — 64 PEOPLE, 12 SHOWN

The bench, as initials.

No portraits on this page: the work is the likeness. Initials, names and benches — the same way we sign the lab notebook.

TIMELINE — FROM THE NOTEBOOK

Three years, five entries.

  1. 2023 · SPRING

    Two founders, one question

Ellison and Reich leave a chip-verification group to ask whether a language model can be made to show its working — and be held to it.

  2. 2023 · WINTER

    First proof-carrying prototype

A small model that attaches a check to every step. Slow, often wrong, and — for the first time — able to say exactly where.

  3. 2024 · AUTUMN

    Oscilla-1

The first model we let customers touch, with the audit trail as a public format. Zürich site opens for deployments work.

  4. 2025 · SUMMER

    The agent platform

Long-running agents with verified tool use ship to the first engineering teams; the console becomes the product's centre of gravity.

  5. 2026 · NOW

    Oscilla-1.2, privately deployed

VPC and on-premises installations for regulated work; the atlas you are reading is drawn from the same notebook.
